We started a few years ago with the creation of the Integrated-CSSU — a storage unit with built-in speakers. Since then, we've been experimenting with audio here and there, and think we've found something worth sharing... and selling: speakers. Specifically, bookshelf speakers sized to pair with small desktop amplifiers like the newly popular tri-path amplifiers and a new generation of tube-based amplifiers — each putting out under 15-50W/channel... which, when paired with these speakers will fill a room with amazing sound while looking amazing.
Here are photos of the prototypes. I'm still experimenting with a few details, but these two drivers are winners for sure — a traditional full-range driver (copper) and a new design... a BMR driver (black). The BMR driver is interesting in that it projects sound more evenly so that there isn't as much of a sweet spot as much as an even field of sweetness... and yes, they both sound really, really good.
They are both sealed designs making them great for bookshelves (no bass reflex tubes to create booming echo chambers) and both handle up to about 30W/channel at their peak, which makes then great for single-room applications (think: office, bedroom).
Version-1: "The Black Bomber"
The initial prototype uses a 3.5in BMR driver in a gray-washed baltic birch case with a lacquer and wax finish. Each speaker is approx 7(x)7(x)11 with ultra-high quality 5-way binding posts on the rear in satin-nickel. This speaker has an astonishingly great bass response with an almost elastic punch (not "boomy" at all -- very tight). The BMR driver is unique in that it produces a fairly even sound field rather than a "sweet spot" more prevalent in traditional speaker cone design.
Connection: Terminal cup with Satin nickel 5-way binding posts

Version-2: "The Copper Core"
The full-range 3in full-range driver is set in a walnut front panel within a solid poplar case. Brass hardware gives it a nice glow. The bass response with this speaker is respectable given its size, but it excels at cymbal crashes and detail.
